Spent the afternoon at the orphanage

Today was a wonderful day at the orphanage.  We got a full tour (saw most of the rooms and met a lot of the kids) and then we got to spend time with V's group and the other group similar in age to hers while they showed us the show for New Years that they are working on.  It was so sweet.  They had dance routines and songs and the kids were adorable.  It was hard knowing that most of them will not find families, that although they are taken care of at the orphanage, they will have no family when they age out.

We also spent some time with the youngest kids at the orphanage (age 3-4), there was one 5 year old little girl in there who is deaf.  She was shy, but warmed up when I gave her a small doll.  They mentioned she is going to start sign language soon and that she is very healthy.  They are hoping that she finds a family as it would be better for her to be in a home environment.  I have not posted about any of the other kids on here, but this really tugged at my heart.  She was a slight girl with light brown hair and such a sweet smile.  If anyone knows of a family that may be interested or able to handle her special needs, please let me know and I can put them in touch with Cradle of Hope.

Tomorrow we are getting V's new passport and birth certificate.  Her party is Wed. and she will come with us to the hotel on Thurs.  We are also going shopping with the orphanage director on Thurs. to buy our donation for the orphanage.  They are still working on the list of items they want us to purchase.  Heading to Moscow on Saturday, can't believe we are in our last week in Biro.  A new BOH family arrives tomorrow from New Hampshire to kick off their adoption process.  We are meeting with them and the other family who is here for dinner.  I am looking forward to meeting them : )

  1. I know it is so hard, there are so many deserving children who need homes. You never forget the children you meet while you are there.

    Enjoy Moscow!

  3. The little deaf girl was Dasha's best friend. I have several pictures of her. She is very cute. Dasha misses her a lot and asks to look at the pictures. I hope someone adopts her.
